New screening trial

Prostate Cancer UK is launching a ÂŁ42m research programme – the TRANSFORM trial – to find the best way to screen men for PCa, so one day all men at risk are invited for regular tests to find aggressive cancers in time for a cure. More her. And screening men born with a high risk of developing PCa, once they reach 45, makes financial sense, Prostate Cancer Research says. But it also acknowledges more accurate tests would be needed to justify screening all men (Nov ’24). This view is supported by Prostate Cancer UK. More here

13 new test centres

The government has announced 13 new diagnostic centres, enabling the NHS to perform nearly 750,000 more PCa tests and checks each year, says Prostate Cancer Research (Dec ’23).

Treatment ‘breakthrough’
